Host a Hobby Party

A great way to celebrate your favourite hobby is by hosting a party in honor of it. It might sound silly at first but this is something people already do quite often. Even a weekly poker game is similar to a hobby party. Get together with those you know that share the same hobby interests as you. If you have a hobby group, invite them over for a weekend get together or use it as away to start your own hobby group. Having a hobby party is fun on a variety of different levels.

Many people take great pleasure and joy in being the host or hostess of an elaborately planned event. If this is you, consider planning out an event that revolves around your hobby. It doesn’t matter what it is, use it as the theme of the party. If its art then have your guests bring their latest piece to show or if its books, everyone can bring their favourite book and discuss why it is so special to them. Lay out some finger food snacks like mini sandwiches and cookies. Brew some coffee and sit back to enjoy a good time with friends.

If you have a hobby group then it only makes sense to invite them to your hobby party. If you do not have a hobby group then this is a fantastic way to start one. Post an ad in your local paper or around your neighbourhood to let people know about your function. Chances are good that there will be someone out there that you have yet to meet who shares your hobby love. It’s also a great way to introduce yourself to neighbours you have not met yet and get to know some new people.

A hobby party can be a great theme for a children’s birthday party. It gives all of the kids something to focus on other than eating cake and making a mess. Get them to participate in some crafts, artwork or building model cars. Whatever hobby you choose, it can be a winner with the right preparation. You can even have a few different hobby stations set up for them to take part in. This allows each child to select which hobby they prefer and enjoy the most.

A barbecue can be the perfect setting for a hobby party. Choose a nice day and cook up some burgers on the grill while everyone mingles and chats about their favourite hobby. A hobby party doesn’t even have to be focused on just one type of hobby. It can be organized so that everyone is encouraged to bring along something that showcases their hobby and related skill, no matter what it is.

If having a party at home just doesn’t work for you or you live somewhere impossible like a small apartment, try renting a hall or local building for the day and have everyone meet there. It prevents your home from becoming cluttered and messy while being open to the public as well. Hosting a hobby party is a fun way to share what you love.

There are as many hobbies as there are people who enjoy them. Learn more about the popular hobby of building and collecting dollhouses and miniatures. Visit our large selection of wooden doll house kits today at http://www.TheMagicalDollhouse.com.

How Spam Filter False Positives Harm Your Business

Unless you live in a cave –and one without a computer at that– you’re very familiar with the huge time waster that sifting through mountains of email spam can be. And while spam is a huge annoyance for employees and end users everywhere, the real costs for businesses are in time and money and they’re increasing every day. As costs rise, IT people (at SMEs in particular) are desperate for ways to deal with it effectively.

It’s estimated that 100 billion spam emails fly back and forth, dirtying up the internet every day. A lot of these emails end up on in business email boxes, and employees are forced to spend their mornings sifting through mountainous piles of spam. All of which is time they’re spending not working.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of Spam Filters

Installing anti-spam filters is really the only effective way to deal with day-to-day spam within a company. These filters work to separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak, allowing the good emails through and tossing the junk in the trash. They do this by combining several different types of technology and updating almost constantly. And while the highest quality spam filters do provide relief, sifting out about 98% of a company’s spam, they’re still imperfect.

Why? Unfortunately, spam filters occasionally have trouble telling what is wheat and what is chaff (to stretch an already-tired metaphor), and toss some important emails out along with the junk. And while they don’t occur that often, ‘false positives’ can still become a problem for business owners.

One solution to the problem of false positive is adjusting the sensitivity of the company’s spam filters. The way this works is simple: the higher the sensitivity, the more spam is caught. But the higher the sensitivity, the more valid emails will be taken out with the trash. Increasing the sensitivity of spam filters can cost companies a heck of a lot more money than too much spam after all, customers don’t like it when their emails go ignored.

The Direct and Indirect Cost of Anti-Spam Filters

Even one little missed email can get a company in deep water. A law company based out of Colorado, for example, missed an email containing some important information about a court date and ended up missing an important day in court. The cost? They were required to pay all of the fees for the opposing counsel.

How did this happen? To combat spam, the company’s IT department had turned up the sensitivity of their email filters. Apparently, the United States District sounded pretty spammy to these super hyper filters, and it costed this company thousands of dollars in fees. Ouch.

While this is a nice and obvious example of how false positives can lose a company money, in most cases it’s simply not that cut and dried. Most monetary losses aren’t direct; they come from a loss of business and credibility. When an email from a client is gobbled up by the spam filter and a big business deal falls through because the client feels ignored, it takes a lot of work and public relations to get that client back. And sometimes it never happens.

In addition to directly losing a company money, false positives can affect productivity just as much as an overload of spam can. If employees are used to seeing a lot of their important emails get junked, they will have to spend valuable time sifting through their spam folder for genuine emails. How much can that cost? More than you’d think. According to Ferris Research, recovering a genuine email from a spam folder costs an average of $3.50 of that employee’s time. Especially if you don’t experience many false positives, it may not seem like much but in a company of 500 people who have to fish out two emails from their spam folder a month, it adds up to $42,000. Does that sound like an itty-bitty expense to you?

It doesn’t to most other business owners, either. And to reduce the number of false positives –and the amount of business lost– many businesses don’t use any anti-spam filters at all. And while it’s hard to judge them for wanting to prevent a loss of business, going without a spam filter opens them up to all sorts of problems. Taking care of spam is just too important.

Striking a Balance

But how do you deal with spam and reduce false positives at the same time? The best method is to set aside all mail marked as spam into a special folder so that users will have access to it, and can check it often. While this may seem time-consuming, with good anti-spam software it really doesn’t have to be. The better the software is at recognizing obvious spam, the fewer emails will end up in the junk folder.

As spam filters improve, so do spammers. Because of this, spam filters will probably never be 100% effective– the ones that will delete every piece of spam will generally delete a few important emails along with it. And the ones that let all the important stuff though will also let in a bit of junk. But using a good, well-configured anti spam software and integrating it with your email server can really reduce the amount of spam that end users receive, as well as the rate of false positives you experience.

Online Dating Coach Reveals His Amazing Secrets to Meeting Fascinating Singles on the Internet

At the end of a long day at work, what better way to enjoy the evening than to share it with your heart’s companion – your Soulmate. Not only is having a love relationship a healthy way to live, but you’ll feel more fulfilled as a person too.

As an Online Dating Coach, I’ve had the pleasure of working with clients worldwide. People just like you have contacted me from all over the world wanting online dating advice… with the ultimate goal of finding their Soulmate – no matter where he or she may be living. In the global community we all live in today, connecting with and meeting singles online is the most natural thing imaginable.

Today I’ll be your Dating Coach while I share some helpful online dating tips. With my online dating advice to guide you, learning how to find your Soulmate through online dating can be fun and easy – so let’s get started!

A Dating Coach Offers some Tips for Success

One of your first and most important decisions is your commitment to joining an online dating service. Whether you join a large dating site with millions of members, or a dating service that targets matches within a smaller niche, your online dating success will, to a large extent, be the result of how well your Online Dating Profile is written. With this in mind, here are the first steps to finding your Soulmate.

First, make a commitment to joining one or more paid dating services, each of which has enough members living in your general vicinity so you’ll have a variety of prospective Soulmates to choose from.

As your Dating Coach, I’ll help you create your Online Dating Profile, since this will become your “Online Dating Brochure” and “calling card.”

Then, decide who you would truly like to meet. Your online dating services can help you to some extent, but always keep in mind that you’re using computer matching for your introductions. Therefore, to take full advantage of the technology, it would be helpful to first understand how it works! Online Dating services match their clients by performing both a keyword search, as well as a simple match of the preferences you’ve assigned in your Online Dating Profile. When the online dating services ask you to select your “interests and hobbies” for example, you’ll be much better off selecting as many of them as you can while still being truthful. Let’s say, for example, that under “interests and hobbies” you have 25 options to choose from. If you select only one of them, then you’ll be matched with site members who have made that one selection too. Computer matchmaking works by matching the words or phrases from your dating profile with those of other members within your chosen age range and geographic area, while applying your preferences for height, hair color, drinking and smoking habits, and so on. So one of the secrets to getting more matches is to be more flexible with the options you choose, just like in the example I’ve given.

Finally, and most important of all, to take full advantage of the online dating services you join, whether you’re a man or a woman, take the initiative and send some letters of introduction – and if possible, do this every day. Don’t expect the online dating services to do all of the work! My best advice to you as your dating coach is to become pro-active – and be responsible for your success!

My Dating Coach Advice

You really can find your Soulmate on the Internet. So just take a deep breath, make a decision that you WILL succeed, and then get the ball rolling! Today more than 25% of single adults use online dating services, and within the next five years, this number is predicted to double. Will YOU find your Soulmate through Online Dating? To a large extend, the decision is up to you!

The 5 Unbreakable Laws Of Online Wealth Building

When the internet first started, few could ever imagine how far reaching it’s effects will be more than a decade down the line. It’s a fact of life now that the internet will continue to change virtually every aspect of our everyday life. As the world’s internet population keeps expanding, so does the opportunities for entrepreneurs and ordinary folk looking to escape the slavery of a nine to five job.

Online wealth building is for everyone. The sheer amount of opportunities presented online enables anybody to start building wealth online. There are just so many areas to explore and regardless of your level of talent, skill or interest, you will find something that suits you. Someone once said that ‘you can turn any passion into profit online’ and this is more true now than ever before. It seems like the biggest problem is not in finding a suitable program, but rather in not getting distracted by all the various options that we get bombarded with. Every single day new opportunities open up and it’s our natural tendency to get in on the action. Online wealth building however relies on focus and having the discipline to not get distracted.

If you are committed to building your wealth online it holds many obvious advantages. The freedom to work on your own clock and answering only to yourself are the main reasons why so many make the shift from the office to the spare room at home. Many online wealth building programs create false illusions that leave many aspiring newbies out in the cold after investing their valuable time and money. The internet is a tough world when it comes to making a living, but then again so is it out there in the ‘real’ world. Don’t expect an easy ride, but don’t be put off either. There are just so many opportunities online that you are bound to find your place sooner rather than later.

I would like to offer you what I consider to be the five laws of online wealth building, that can help you greatly towards creating long term success online. I would encourage you to use these laws to evaluate potential opportunities or just to evaluate your current position.

The Law Of Excellence:
Things tend to move really fast online. It is critical that you commit yourself to excellence and to always keep learning and improving. If you don’t you will most certainly fall behind. Strive for excellence. You can’t keep doing the same things and expect to improve, nor does doing more of what doesn’t work won’t make it work any better.

The Law Of Quality:
I like the term ‘wealth building’ because it implies that it’s not some instantaneous thing. Quality always gets rewarded long term and although some of the ‘get rich quick’ schemes online work, they rarely work long term. There is a big difference between making a quick buck and building wealth. Whatever you create online, strive for quality first as this will ensure sustainability in what you do.

The Law Of Choice:
Wealth is a choice. You’ve probably heard this before, but never really understood it completely. Being wealthy starts with a choice and it’s a choice you have to make daily. The internet is responsible for the largest distribution on wealth in history. The power is shifting from the big corporations to the guy (or girl) in his garage with a single laptop. You can choose to be part of this or to keep doing what you’ve always done.

The Law Of Persistence:
When it comes to online wealth building, for some the learning curve will be greater than for others. Regardless of your skill level you will face many challenges and often consider packing it in. This is where persistence and perseverance comes in. Realize that you will always meet with much difficulty before you succeed – it’s essential for your personal growth and developing to a level of success.

The Law Of Value:
Whatever you do online, be a team player! I cannot overemphasize that enough. Your wealth and success is directly proportional to the amount of value that you add to other people. If you want to be more successful, just think of how you can add more value to other people’s lives.

Financial success is most certainly obtainable for virtually anybody. There is however a big difference between obtainable success and sustainable success. Just think back at the story of The Three Little Pigs – you want to build your ‘house’ from brick and make sure that your success is sustainable long term. After all, who wants to quit their day job only to go back after six months?

7 Book Writing Secrets to Finish Faster and Sell Sooner

Are ready to finish your book writing stronger to sell sooner? No worries. With a little extra knowledge, you can still complete writing your book this year. Implement the following secrets; complete your book and prosper:

Secret 1 Create a sense of urgency

Many less determined writers get discouraged and quit because their book journey is not as easy and fast as they thought. May I gently say, “Get over it.” Most worthwhile endeavors take perseverance and hard work. Here’s a different perspective; the attention, direction and intent it takes to overcome most obstacles can be developed into new strengths and skills.

Get your book finished now; for now is better than later. Remember you become a successful author the minute you start moving toward your worthwhile book goal. I don’t know anyone that regrets they wrote a book. But I know plenty of people that regret they didn’t do it sooner.

Secret 2 Keep going after life interrupts.

It is a common challenge for book writers to find their place after being interrupted by family, work and daily life. After all that’s why many think you must get away to get it done effectively.

Yet, there’s hope for those who can’t get away or choose not to. Successful writers all over the world use the tracking approach. They succeed because they commit to doing a little each day.

Set yourself up for success; use the book tracking approach. The most popular method to use for tracking is time. Time is the method where you commit to a writing a certain amount of time each day.

With the cumulative factor involved your commitment doesn’t have to be that much. For example, to accomplish my book writing goals I commit to writing one hour a day in a.m. (my most productive time.) With this method don’t be overly concerned about how much you write, just keep the time commitment.

Secret 3 Find your writing rhythm.

You don’t have to write each chapter one after the other. If you get stuck on chapter two, you could be stuck a very long time. This type of thinking comes from grade school where we are ritually taught to do everything in order.

If you have been thinking that way stop right now, no need to raise your hand. You have my permission to work on whatever chapter moves you or you feel passion bubbling for at the moment. Feeling stuck on a chapter, try another. There you have it now go with the flow.

Don’t become chained to writing in order. Jump around and fill in the blanks. Review your chapters and whatever subject or topic you most drawn to, begin there.

Secret 4 Push past writer’s block.

I am stuck. I have to stop writing until I feel it again. Unseasoned writers may play the martyr, give up and try again another day. We would never get it done like that. When you get stuck simply close that chapter, pull out your chapter outline and choose another chapter. Choose a topic from that chapter and begin there.

Keep going; stay on course. Maintain your writing commitments. Go around writer’s block by working on another chapter. For example, while writing this book in one of my writing sessions, I wanted to finish my fourth chapter on titles but I ran into a writer’s block. Instead of breaking my momentum, I came down to chapter eight about easy writing and began there. I was able to complete my time commitment of one hour and keep my momentum.

Secret 5 Turn off editor mindset when writing.

Many newbie and seasoned writers are perfectionist. When writing, they feel the urge to stop and change something every few paragraphs. Or they finish a page and want to perfect it before continuing.

Turn off your editor voice while writing your first draft. Your goal should be to get the message on paper. Avoid re-writing during your first draft. After your message is written completely out, then you can turn the editor’s voice back up. It’s true successful authors rewrite and organize their ideas for the strongest impact.

But in the beginning stages of writing your book, concentrate on finishing each chapter. Use later writing sessions to self-edit. When it’s time to edit, check your ideas for flow, grammar, spelling, and chapter endings. Work on your chapter titles and lead in introductions.

Secret 6 Treat your book as a business.

It was one thing to write your family’s history book. You had no plans of marketing it to the world. It’s another thing to write a book about a topic in your field. Your expectations are different and quite higher. You can expect your book about a topic in your field to brand your business, make you a sought after expert and draw hundreds of new clients.

Set your book up to succeed with a book marketing plan. Your book marketing plan is what I describe as your map. It describes your book, what you will do after the book is completed and published. It also describes who you hope to sell your book to a target audience. In short you can say your book marketing plan is your roadmap to success and profits.

Secret 7 Ask for help.

Many writers are natural loners. So it’s no surprise when they fall into thinking, “I have to do it all myself.” Do your research and reading time apart from your writing sessions. You may be able to ask your spouse, a teen-aged son or daughter, a friend to help with your research. Know when to let go of your chapters and book. Don’t self-edit and pick your book apart word by word.

Learn to use your skills at the highest level possible. Some of the mechanical tasks of proofreading ask a family member, part-time employee or again a friend to help. After you have done the best job you can with your manuscript, don’t be afraid to pass it to a professional. Learn to delegate faster and faster.

Don’t put it off any longer. You owe it to yourself and those who love you to finish stronger and sell sooner. Your audience is waiting. Implement the above secrets, get your book finished, release it to the world and prosper.
